Bangor College China is a Sino-Foreign cooperative education institution jointly established by Central South University of Forestry and Technology and Bangor University. It was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2013 and is the first ever joint-institute in Hunan Province, China. BCC currently offers four undergraduate programmes across disciplines: Forestry, Electronic Engineering, Banking & Finance and Accounting & Finance. The college currently has 91 academic staff, including 25 professors, 24 associate professors and 39 lecturers (with doctoral degrees). The college currently has 730 students, of which 12 are BU-enrolled, and 11 have transferred to Bangor University to study.

Key features of the joint-institute:

1. Dual degrees - eligible students will be registered in both Chinese and British universities. Students who completed their studies will receive UK and Chinese degrees.

Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Forestry and Environmental Management

This Forestry degree provides the skills, expertise and knowledge required for sustainable management. It will prepare you for the challenge of managing forests for the many benefits they provide, at a time of global environmental change.

Forestry has a long history in Central South University of Forestry and Technology, which is renowned for teaching and research. It has a comprehensive education framework for undergraduates, masters, doctors, and postdoctoral students. Its “Agricultural Sciences” discipline was rated top 1% in the world by ESI. Bangor University's forestry is the longest standing Forestry department in the UK with a school history of more than 130 years. Bangor is 1st in the UK for Agriculture and Forestry (National Student Survey 2021) and ranked 1st in the UK for Research impact (REF 2021). BCC has excellent links with forestry organisations in China, UK and overseas, and these are used in our teaching programmes.

The programme is an example of strong cooperation between Chinese and UK universities. The topic covered include Environmental Management and Conservation, Forestry in the 21st Century, Ecosystem and Function Service; Forest & Woodland Management; Forest Health, Watershed Management and Planning, Silviculture and Inventory, Environmental Management & Conservation; Forest Ecosystems etc. This programme is aimed to cultivate expertise who have mastered the basic theories of forestry and environmental science, and to advance knowledge of forest cultivation, forest tree genetics and breeding, forest resource monitoring, forest ecological environment construction and management, and wild plant resource development and utilization.

Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electronic Engineering

This course will prepare you for work as a professional engineer at the forefront of high-technology industry in both technical and managerial roles. During the degree you will gain extensive practical experience to ensure that you develop sound practical skills as well as a thorough theoretical knowledge. It is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council. Completing this course will enable you to fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer. The course will help students to get a thorough grounding in all the latest techniques in analogue and digital electronics, together with training in professional skills, project management techniques and an intensive preparation in maths and science for electronics. Students will gain extensive practical experience to ensure that they develop sound practical skills as well as a thorough theoretical knowledge.

Bangor University is one of the earliest universities in the UK to offer undergraduate programme in electrical engineering. It is ranked 4th in the UK for Research and has strong research base in optoelectronics, communications, microelectronics, bioelectronics and materials science, organic and plastic electronics. Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT)

Founded in 1958, CSUFT has developed into a multidisciplinary university comprising a wide range of disciplines in science, engineering, agriculture, arts, law, economics, management and education, and has been authorized to offer a comprehensive range of programs including bachelor, master, doctor’s programs and post-doctoral programs. CSUFT is located in the national historical and cultural city Changsha, China. The university currently has more than 30,000 full-time students, including more than 26,000 undergraduate and junior college students, and over 5,500 postgraduate students. The university have over 2,300 faculty members, 966 of whom have senior professional titles; The university consists of 24 colleges and departments; and its campus is located in an elegant and convenient location.
